| Overview |
A rare chance to visit areas usually only accessed by scientists, this incredible journey travels through Antarctic Sound, also known as "iceberg alley". Admire the volcanic landscapes of the South Shetland Islands and take in the spectacular scenery surrounding the Weddell Sea. You'll see many species of penguins, seabirds, seals and whales and explore several historic sights. It's the perfect place to see gigantic tabular icebergs and perhaps even spot the elusive snow petrel. The M/V Polar Star is one of the world's best expedition ice-class vessels on the seas today - of a size that combined with its ice capability and Zodiac landing craft, allows access to places that others can only sail past. Its large on-deck viewing areas and a panoramic observation lounge allow beautiful vistas and many opportunities for spotting wildlife.
