Day 1 QuitoArrive early to explore cobblestone streets and colourful markets in one of South America's most picturesque cities. Flanked by dramatic mountains and tucked into a beautiful Andean valley, Quito is spectacular. Days 2-3 San CristobalBegin the Galapagos adventure upon touchdown on San Cristobal. Get an education at the Galapagos Interpretation Centre and learn all about the islands, their people and history. Uncover all the weird and wonderful creatures that call these islands home. Board a boat and head to Kicker Rock to see blue-footed boobies and pelicans. Snorkel with sea lions, and cap off the time on this island by paying a visit to the giant tortoises. Days 4-5 IsabelaFly to the largest island in the archipelago and visit the Galapagos Tortoise Rearing Centre. Discover what is being done to preserve this unique species that lent its name to these islands. Afterwards, get a bird's eye view of the magical landscape from the rim of the Sierra Negra Volcano. Check out hundreds of marine iguanas roaming about on Las Tintoreras. Later, hit the beach to snorkel and swim in this unique habitat. Days 6-7 Santa CruzSet sail for Puerto Ayora and be sure to look out for dolphins swimming around the boat. Have an unforgettable encounter with Lonesome George, the sole remaining survivor of his sub-species, at the world-renowned Charles Darwin Research Station. See tortoises at all stages of their development, from hatchlings to mature adults. Spot their giant cousins in the wild at El Chato Tortoise Reserve. Then for something completely different, take a walk on the wild side in a lava tunnel. Days 8-9 Baltra/QuitoTransfer to Baltra before flying back to the mainland.
