| Overview |
Fun, thrills and action on this downriver trip in open Canadian canoes. You will learn how to 'read' the water and practice minimum impact wilderness camping. A day of training on calm water prepares you for a 160 km (100 miles) journey along a stretch of the Athabasca River. There are no towns, no houses along the route, just the wide river, islands and forests. A true Canadian adventure for beginners and experienced canoeists. This guided canoe trip is suitable for beginners. International classification of difficulty (1 is lowest, 5 is highest) rates this stretch of the Athabasca River as Class 1 overall with several 1 and 2 rapids and one Class 3 rapid. With our 2010 departures, this canoe trip can be combined with our 7 day hiking tour "NA6 - The Best of The Rockies"
