| Itinerary |
Day 1 MarrakechRinging with the sounds of musicians, storytellers and snake charmers, Marrakech's famous market square is a dizzying spectacle. Perhaps enjoy a delicious Moroccan feast, try freshly squeezed juice from a stall or relax in a cafe with a mint tea or strong coffee. Days 2-4 High Atlas MountainsCycle and hike past Berber villages, terraced crops and snaking rivers on a route through Morocco's stunning High Atlas Mountains. Stay in a mountain lodge that offers glimpses of North Africa's highest peak, Mt Toubkal. Day 5 Ait BenhaddouTravel through Morocco's stunning scenery on the way to the exotic charms of Ait Benhaddou. The intricate clay architecture of this imposing World Heritage-listed fortified village has graced the silver screen in numerous Hollywood films including Gladiator and The Last Temptation of Christ. Wander the character-filled streets, shop for souvenirs, or climb to the top of the hill for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Days 6-7 Todra GorgeIn the morning, visit an Intrepid-supported organisation that assists physically disabled locals before travelling to Todra Gorge. Trek the beautiful surroundings of lush palmeries, valleys and gorges, keeping an eye out for Morocco's nomadic Berbers along the way, and spend a memorable night with a local family in a nomad camp. Days 8-9 MarrakechAfter an exhilarating adventure, return to the busy streets of Marrakech where there's free time to explore the sights, haggle for a bargain at the frenetic souqs or try more delicious Moroccan cuisine at the many restaurants and cafes.
