| Overview |
Let's face it - no travel in Morocco is complete without taking time to explore the famous Red City, beautiful Marrakech. Among its rosy-tinged buildings you'll discover ancient archaeological marvels and twisting medina alleyways where every turn yields a wealth of new sights, sounds and scents. Get your bearings and start bargaining like a local! At night, lose yourself in the crazy street theatre of the Djemaa el-Fna square, where vendors and entertainers compete for attention amid jostling crowds. This is absolute magic - it's absolute Marrakech.

The traveller may be required to pay the tour leader a small "tour kitty" to cover local expenses. This may or may not apply to this tour. Call if you have questions. |

Day 1 Arrive MarrakechArrive in seductive Marrakech and settle in to a hotel in its busy heart. Days 2-3 MarrakechJoin an expert local guide to explore the famous and not so famous sights of Marrakech's New and Old Towns. Explore the busy city streets and winding alleys of the medina by foot to get a close up look at the city's every day life. While parts of Marrakech are distinctly modern, some of it has remained unchanged for centuries. Wander through souqs and learn about the town's many different industries. Everything from spices to carpets is for sale. Pick up a bargain or two before taking a break Marrakech-style and try some delicious sweet almonds and coffee. Continue exploring with the guide before retiring to a rooftop cafe. With a mint tea in hand this is the ideal place to watch the magic of Djemma el-Fna unfold below. Djemma el-Fna is the heart of the city and comes to life each evening with an array of snake charmers, musicians, astrologers and market stalls. There are also plenty of food stalls to choose from. Tempt taste buds with everything from steamed snails, to fresh salads and barbecued camel. Start the following day with a introductory Arabic lesson. With a few basic phrases ready, head off to the market to shop for fresh produce for your cooking class. Discover the secrets to the various spices and ingredients used in Moroccan cooking and then mix, chop, slice, dice and prepare Moroccan salads and tajine. Day 4 Depart MarrakechSay a sad goodbye to this colourful city.
