Days 1-2 CairoCairo, Egypt's energetic capital, overflows with colour, character and culture. Kick start this adventure with a trip to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the Egyptian Museum to see admire the wealth of golden treasures that Tutankhamun was buried with thousands of years ago. Days 3-4 Aswan/Nile CruiseAfter an overnight train journey from Cairo, arrive in the laidback city of Aswan. Set off for a walk around the bazaars and perhaps pick up a souvenir - leather, perfume, jewellery and clothing are all on offer. The next day, enjoy the comforts and hospitality aboard a boat while cruising on the Nile and watch 5,000 years of culture drift by. Make a stop at the magnificent temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu along the way. Days 5-7 LuxorPile the family into a horse-drawn calesh and travel to the great Temples of Karnak. Spend the afternoon exploring this ancient site, once inhabited by pharaohs. The following day, rise early to take an optional sunrise balloon ride over the ancient sites of this magical region of Egypt - a truly breathtaking experience. Back down on earth, join the group for a donkey ride through small villages near the Valley of the Kings. Take a guided tour to learn more about these early civilisations and the incredible monuments they left behind. Days 8-9 CairoReturn to Cairo from Aswan via an overnight train. Make a trip to the eclectic Khan el-Khalili bazaar in Islamic Cairo to pick up last-minute souvenirs before bidding a fond farewell to enchanting Egypt.
