Days 1-2 DelhiOld Delhi pulses with the energy and colour of lively bazaars, busy temples and crowded streets. Visit the famous Red Fort, the stunning Jama Masjid and discover the narrow lanes that disappear off Chandni Chowk. In direct contrast, the new city is a vast area of wide boulevards and spacious parks, rich in colonial splendour. Days 3-4 JaipurDiscover the blush-hued city on a sightseeing tour. Admire the Palace of the Winds' honeycombed sandstone, discover the fascinating instruments of the Jantar Mantar observatory and relax in the gardens of the City Palace. End the day with a flamboyant Bollywood flick. On day 4, visit the Amber Fort, stunningly situated overlooking Maota Lake. The fort's Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) is a dazzling confection of reflected light. Spend the afternoon browsing the bazaars or visiting the local museums. Day 5 Fatehpur Sikri/AgraExperience the eerie magnificence of Fatehpur Sikri's mosque and crumbling ruins. Despite its wealth and beauty, this town was abandoned in the late 16th century. Travel on to arrive in Agra in the evening. Day 6 AgraVisit the Taj Mahal, the monument built by the Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb for his beloved queen Mumtaz. Discover the magnificent edifice of the Agra Fort. In the evening board an overnight train to Varanasi. Days 7-8 VaranasiBathing ghats choked with pilgrims, temples full of incense, narrow shop-filled alleyways - Varanasi straddles earthly and spiritual worlds. Take it all in on a sightseeing tour and sunrise boat trip on the Ganges.
