| Itinerary |
Days 1-2 Ravello to AmalfiTake the circular walk from idyllic Ravello down an ancient trail to the charming whitewashed fishing village of Atrani. The next day, hike through hamlets, meadows and shady woods to the historic town of Amalfi. Once a major sea power rivalling Genova and Venice, Amalfi today is a popular coastal town. Its medieval architecture, sea views and local crafts are justly renowned. Day 3 Amalfi to Vettica MaggioreFollow the Maestro dei Villaggi (Master of the Villages) path through small hamlets and past the Santa Rosa Monastery, to the port of Conca dei Marini. Discover the Grotta dello Smeraldo, the 'little sister' of the Capri Blue Grotto - named after its emerald-coloured ground. A scenic footpath alongside churches and olive groves leads to the narrow fjord of Furore with its unusual rock-face houses. Descend by the Via dell' Amore footpath to the San Gennaro Church, the centre of the fishing village of Vettica Maggiore. Days 4-5 Vettica Maggiore to PositanoHike up the Via Croce to the San Domenico monastery and join the Walk of the Gods high above the waters of the Mediterranean. Slowly descend towards Positano, a feast of brightly coloured houses and enticing pavement cafes. Perhaps take a day trip to the Santa Maria al Castello Church, perched above Positano, for a final taste of the marvellous Amalfi Coast views.
