| Overview |
With Istanbul's crowds thick like hookah smoke and many beach resorts packed hip and shoulder with oiled bodies, the need to abandon the Byzantine bustle is many a traveller's reality. This Black Sea sojourn promises secluded stretches of sand, with tranquil lagoons merely a bike ride away. Unwind in this sleepy fishing town and, during the heat of the day, let the locals teach you how to cool off with hot Turkish coffee. Whether it's a fresh seafood dinner with moonlit ocean views, a game of backgammon with the town's older folk or a tranquil paddle along the nearby river, this coastal escape is guaranteed to calm and rejuvenate even the most travel-weary traveller.
[XEIN]
The traveller may be required to pay the tour leader a small "tour kitty" to cover local expenses. This may or may not apply to this tour. Call if you have questions. |

Day 1 Istanbul/AgvaJust a short distance from the mayhem of Istanbul, this sleepy fishing town really is the hidden gem of the Black Sea coast. Days 2-3 AgvaDive into the glistening waters and relax on the tranquil beach then, in the heat of the day, wander to the town markets and visit the renowned fabric merchants. To get the most out of the undisturbed location, hire a bicycle and discover the secluded coves and enticing lagoons nearby or paddle the river in a canoe. Watch the local fishing boats as they ply the harbour then follow the catch of the day to one of the seaside restaurants. The town centre has plenty to offer when you need to escape the hot sun and sand. Cool down with velvety, thick ice cream, slurp rich Turkish coffee or play a game of backgammon with the locals. Day 4 IstanbulEase back into city life with a relaxing soak at a hamam or visit a tea garden to bask in the afternoon sun amid nargileh-smoking locals. Take one last stroll through the winding streets to soak up the mystique of the city. Visit Aya Sofya, if you haven't already, and get off the beaten track at the enchanting Rustem Pasa Mosque.

| Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends. - Maya Angelou |
