| Overview |
Ninety-five years ago on April 25th, Allied troops landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula. The military campaign that followed was disastrous for the Allies, but came to define the national psyches of Australia and New Zealand. Travel to these solemn battlefields on the anniversary of the landing and wander through Anzac Cove to the Nek and Lone Pine and share the stories of heroism and camaraderie that unfolded among the senseless loss of so many young lives. This journey provides a great opportunity to pay respect to the fallen of World War I and to reflect on what they fought for.
[XEIN]
The traveller may be required to pay the tour leader a small "tour kitty" to cover local expenses. This may or may not apply to this tour. Call if you have questions. |

Day 1 Istanbul/GallipoliMeet in Istanbul and travel to the peninsula that laid the foundations of a national consciousness among Australians and New Zealanders, but was also perceived by the Turks as a defining moment in their own battle for independence. See Anzac Cove, the Nek and Lone Pine and marvel at the beauty and serenity of a land that saw one of the most horrific military campaigns of modern times. Hear stories of the tragic events that unfolded on 25 April 1915 - a stark contrast to the green, windswept plains seen today. Walk through the trenches and be transported back to a moment in history that saw repeated feats of heroism and great camaraderie among both the Diggers and the Turks. Day 2 Gallipoli/IstanbulWake in darkness to experience a moving Gallipoli dawn service. After the tear-jerking final notes of The Last Post ring out, there's time to visit more ceremonies for individual countries, held at their points of greatest significance. Wander the war cemeteries and reflect on the horrors of war and the sacrifices of young men for their countries. Be transferred back to Istanbul, stopping on the way for lunch.
