| Overview |
This tour traverses the length of Central America from Mexico to Costa Rica, taking in seven weeks of adventure travel. Mexico; visit Mayan ruins, explore colonial cities, sample the world famous cuisine, and relax on the turquoise Caribbean coastline, including the tranquil island of Isla Mujeres and the town of Playa del Carmen. Then onto Caye Caulker in Belize and the unforgettable Afro-Caribbean island, the perfect spot for snorkeling and diving. In Guatemala we visit the great Mayan city of Tikal, and Finca Ixobel to try caving, horse-riding and river tubing. We explore the area surrounding Lake Atitlan, including Panajachel, Chichicastenango markets and the cobbled stone-stone streets of colonial Antigua. Southwards to Honduras and Nicaragua where you can marvel at the ruins of Copan, explore the island of Ometepe and its volcanoes, and relax on the pacific beaches of San Juan del Sur. Into Costa Rica, we visit San Jose and the national parks of Cahuita and Tortuguero. Then over to the Pacific side and the town of La Fortuna and Volcano Arenal, which offers world class activities such as white water rafting, canyoneering, or take it easy in local hot springs. We cross Lake Arenal to Santa Elena and explore the ecosystems of Monteverde Cloud forest a hub of flora and fauna. We end off the tour with the sloths and monkeys on the beaches of Manual Antonio National Park before finishing in San Jose.
