Overview
Colourful Yunnan is arguable one of Chinas most culturally and ecologically diverse regions. Wedged between the upper tributaries of the Mekong and Yangtze rivers, and the vast Tibetan Plateau, Yunnan is simply spectacular and contains approximately one third of all its minority groups. We follow the historical Tea Trading Route from the quaint cobble stone lanes of Dali to the undiscovered ancient town of Shaxi. From here we take time out to view one of the deepest gorges in the world -Tiger Leaping George - before relaxing in the UNESCO town of Lijiang with its back drop of Jade Dragon Snow mountain. We experience our first taste of Tibetan hospitality and culture as we venture north to the plateaus of Zhongdian and Deqin. It is here that we view the sacred peak of Kawakarpo in the spectacular Meili Snow mountains - an important place for pilgrims from Tibet. It is easy to see why this trip is a firm favourite with our travellers!
