| Itinerary |
Day 1 BangkokArrive in Thailand and travel through the vibrant streets of this modern metropolis. Things to do in Bangkok range from relaxing day spa visits, cruising cultural sights like the Grand Palace and watching a bout of Thai boxing. Day 2 SukhothaiAncient ruins and age-old temples dot the former capital of Sukhothai. Take in a memorable sunset over this iconic landscape.. Day 3 LampangCycle through the remains of Old Sukhothai and stop for a picnic along the way. Then head to Lampang, the essence of a more sedate Thailand. Day 4 HomestayRide an elephant through the forest at the Elephant Conservation Centre and experience how life is led by locals on a homestay. Days 5-7 Chiang MaiRise early to offer alms to the monks before travelling to Chiang Mai, via relaxing thermal hot springs. Situated at the crossroads of one of South-East Asia's most important trade routes, Thailand's northern capital is a legendary centre of ancient culture, adventure, relaxation and shopping. Bike between gold-gilded temples, enjoy a cooking class, take a river tour aboard a bamboo raft or hone haggling skills at the markets. Days 8-9 BangkokDiscover Buddhist culture at Wat Arun before boarding a train bound for Surat Thani. Days 10-11 Ko Pha-NganLap up the spoils of the tropical island paradise on Ko Pha-Ngan. Visit tranquil fishing villages, go swimming in blue waters or enjoy a beachside barbecue. Days 12-13 Ko TaoSoak up the best of beach life on the white sandy shores of Ko Tao. Diving is the order of the day for many visitors to Ko Tao but snorkelling over the colourful reefs is equally as impressive. There's also plenty of time to simply relax on the beach under swaying coconut palms. Days 14-16 Ko SamuiTravel across to Ko Samui and enjoy long white beaches, ancient temples and cooling waterfalls - but this time with the addition of a lively nightlife. Take a day tour to Thailand's largest national marine park, home to the beautiful Emerald Lake, or choose to head out on a sea-kayak trip. If that seems like too much hard work, just kick back with a cocktail on one of Ko Samui's beaches.
