| Overview |
We start out in Hanoi, a bustling city full of French colonial architecture, lakes and boulevards and then continue onto our trek in the north of Vietnam. We trek for up to five hours a day in the mountain valleys with their stunning rice terraces, forests, waterfalls and indigenous hill tribes who inhabit these isolated regions. After three days of trekking we return to Hanoi and then move on to Halong Bay. In Halong Bay our traditional junk boat cruises the thousands of limestone islets. Then we take the Reunification Express for an overnight journey to Hue, the former capital and seat of the Nguyen dynasty. Our tour includes the emperors' mausoleum and a trip on the Perfume River. We visit the picturesque town of Hoi An, before moving south to spend a night at the contrasting yet wonderful resort of Nha Trang. Then we travel inland to Dalat in the Central Highlands with its cooler mountain air, before moving on to Ho Chi Minh City, where a highlight is a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground base that held 10,000 troops of the Communist Vietcong army. Our final day is free to explore Saigon, or take an optional trip to the Mekong Delta.
