| Itinerary |
Day 1 Victoria FallsGet soaked by the powerful sheet of spray rising from the thunderous Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. At night, set up camp near the banks of the Zambezi River. Day 2 Chobe National ParkTravel to Botswana and embark on an afternoon cruise along the Chobe River. Try to spot wallowing hippos and basking crocodiles before watching the sun melt into the horizon over the grassy plains. There's plenty of time in the Chobe National Park to spot the magnificent elephants this reserve is famous for. Day 3 MaunJourney to the gateway of the Okavango Delta - one of the world's most complex ecosystems. Days 4-6 Okavango Delta/MaunEnjoy a traditional mokoro canoe ride through the intricate Okavango floodplain and spot some of the resident birdlife and animals - zebras, warthogs, buffaloes, hippos and hyenas all live here. Camp on a remote island in the heart of the delta surrounded by lilypad-filled waterways. To take in the immensity of this region, opt to splash out on a memorable plane ride. Day 7 Khama Rhino SanctuaryTravel to the edge of the Kalahari to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. The reserve was developed by local communities to convert hunting land into a sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinos and other wildlife. Head out on a dusk game drive to spot some of the animals that make their home in Khama sanctuary. Days 8-9 Soweto/JohannesburgContinue across the border into South Africa and make tracks to modern Johannesburg. Explore the streets of the Soweto area on a bicycle tour, visit a former migrant workers' hostel and other important local landmarks. The Soweto community has emerged from a tragic past and recently developed into a symbol for hope, making it a fascinating and worthwhile place to visit.
